The forest skirts around some very large wetlands, meaning there will be good birdwatching here.
Wide, pine-needle trails make for comfortable walking.
Fire roads criss cross the woods.
Look for boulders, glacial erratics, along trails.
Areas of open water make for lovely sights.
Depending on where you enter, you may find information boards.
Some trails are high up, either on made-man heights or perhaps glacial moraines?
One exit takes you past a very large playing field that gets used for sports at times.
Reading Town Forest is a large wooded area in the north of Reading. It skirts the Ipswich River, and depending on weather and recent rain you might get close enough to view the river.
In any case there are lots of trails to explore in forests and wetlands.
