Mystic Link Trail

A vibrant network of open spaces between the Merrimack Valley and Mystic River watershed into Boston.

Lubber’s Brook

The brook forms a lovely pond with help from a beaver dam.
The only access is from Blanchard Road, where you park at the road end.
There is no trailhead marker, so look for the opening near the fire hydrant (center of the photo).
Hidden inside the woods there is a nice big Wilmington Conservation sign.
There are green diamond trail markers. Much of the trail goes on top of a ridge that suggests a glacial moraine.
The trail splits but you can go either way and still reach the brook.
The mature forest is a mix of massive evergreens and hardwoods.
The forest floor near the brook has lovely stands of ferns.
Small hills from the ridges to lower areas; fun for cross country skiing.
Grass growing on the ridge trails indicates that this is not a busy place.
The dam appears to be half manmade and half beaver made.
Across the brook is a wide wetland.

Wilmington’s Lubbers Brook is a smallish but very pleasant spot with lovely views of wetlands. Ridge trails drop down into mature forest, then find the brook.
