This entire small yet pretty and interesting property features a very well done drainage project along the Aberjona River.
The side trail to Hunt Street goes through forest and over a stream.
The trail to Hunt Street has a pleasant mix of wood chips and boardwalks.
There were raccoon footprints in the mud of the stream in July, on the side trail to Hunt Street.
There are lots of informative displays that tell the story of the project.
The small lower board at Hunt Street gives credit to the project and promises even more open space.
The ponds have lots of little fish and frogs to observe.
An old friend was watching the tadpoles as they morphed into frogs, sprouting legs.
Very wide boardwalks allow for possible wheelchair visits.

This board helps to identify the plentiful wild flowers.

The adjacent bird sanctuary does not have trails in order to protect wildlife.
The Maillet Conservation land is next to the Thelin Bird Sanctuary, and both can be visited, although Thelin is more bird friendly than people friendly. The Maillet project has been a major stormwater project along the Aberjona River.
We include these two smaller parcels because the Mystic Link Trails runs right near them in Reading. And because tiny Maillet is such a sweet little park.
