This is a walk you can certainly get to by public transit: both Red Line and by bus.

There are various plaques that explain the walking trail.

At Davis Square, a wonderful cultural center full of food and music, there are also sculptures.

This rail trail, known as the Somerville Community Path, while hardly wilderness can be very beautiful, with big trees looming overhead and peaceful walkers and bikers strolling by.
