Ward Reservation

The main parking area has a nice big sign and map to orient you.

There are quite a few trails to choose from.

The stones at the hilltop are a famous feature of Ward Hill.

You can't climb the fire tower, but it does make a good landmark for finding your way.

Hilltop views are wonderful.

There are many open meadows with trails through them.

The forests are a mixture of pines and hardwoods.

Stone walls running through the woods are a reminder that this land was once all farmed.

Elephant rock takes a bit of walking to find, but it does have elephant looks and a great view.

These easy chairs near elephant rock are waiting for you.

There are quite a few bird houses in the fields, but best to leave them alone and let The Trustees monitor them.

The Bay Circuit Trail runs through Ward Hill.

The forests of Ward Hill are full of lovely overhead sights.

The Charles W. Ward reservation in Andover and North Andover is the northern end of the Mystic Link Trail. It is a large reservation run by The Trustees, with a wide variety of landscapes.

There are wetlands, open fields, forests, and views to distant places.

The reservation is wrapped around private residences so you need to be respectful of them. And the backside of the hill has utilities in the form a water tower and cel phone towers, but there is plenty of land far from those areas.
